About the role The Carnarvon Hotel is seeking an experienced Bar Manager / Duty Manager to join our team on a full-time basis. Based in Carnarvon, WA 6701, this is a pivotal position within our hospitality operation. You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of our bar and beverage operations, ensuring exceptional service standards, and maintaining the smooth running of the venue during your shifts.

This role offers the opportunity to lead a dynamic team, manage inventory and stock control, and create memorable experiences for our guests and patrons in a hands-on role.

Key responsibilities

- Manage and oversee all bar and beverage operations, ensuring service standards are consistently met or exceeded
- Lead, supervise and mentor bar staff, providing training, guidance and performance feedback
- Monitor stock levels, manage inventory.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant licensing laws, responsible service of alcohol regulations, and health and safety requirements
- Maintain accurate cash handling procedures and reconcile tills and financial records at the end of shifts
- Deliver exceptional customer service and handle customer inquiries or complaints professionally and courteously
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the bar area in accordance with hospitality guidelines
- Perform general duty manager responsibilities including managing the hotel during assigned shifts and responding to operational issues
- Assist with promotional activities and contribute to driving revenue and customer satisfactio

What we're looking for





- Proven experience working as a Bar Manager or in a senior bar position within a hospitality venue
- Strong knowledge of bar operations, beverage products, and mixology
- Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification and understanding of liquor licensing laws in Western Australia
- Demonstrated leadership and staff management experience with the ability to motivate and develop team members
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build positive relationships with patrons and colleagues
- Strong organisational and time management abilities with proficiency in managing multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic computer skills
- Cash handling experience and competency with financial reconciliation
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required by the role
- A current WA Approved managers card or willing to obtain
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Preferred: Experience working in regional hospitality venues or remote locations
- Preferred: Duty manager or assistant manager experience
