South Burnett Regional Council is one of the largest employers within the region, with offices and depots located in Kingaroy, Nanango, Wondai, Murgon, Proston and Blackbutt.

About the roles

- Based in Kingaroy
- Permanent Full Time
- $67K - $69K per annum + Allowances + Super

Council is seeking a Biosecurity Officer to assist with pest and stock route management functions on a day-to-day basis across the South Burnett Region. The role will undertake pest monitoring and control activities including responding to customer service requests, whilst working individually or as part of a team across multiple land tenures using skills & 'Information Technology' to achieve outcomes. The successful applicant will have demonstrated working knowledge of breeds of cattle, the National Livestock Identification Scheme and animal welfare and livestock issues with substantial experience in a similar role. Sound knowledge and demonstrated experience in weed identification, control techniques and use of equipment with an understanding of relevant legislation.

Additional Factors

- Participation in rostered late shifts and Saturday shifts as required.
- Level of fitness required to undertake a broad range of physical tasks.
- Working outdoors in hot conditions

Mandatory Qualifications

- Minimum requirement of a current C Class driver’s licence
- General Safety Induction for Construction Worker Cert (White Card)
- Certificate in Land and Conservation Management
- Agricultural Chemical Distribution and Control (ACDC) licence
- 1080 Licence
- Blue card and First Aid qualifications

- Demonstrated working knowledge of breeds of cattle, the National Livestock Identification Scheme and animal welfare and livestock issues with substantial experience in a similar role.
- Sound knowledge and demonstrated experience in weed identification, control techniques and use of equipment, with an understanding of the relevant legislation.
- Sound knowledge and demonstrated ability to implement feral animal management programs and implement best practice management practices in the eradication and control of feral animals, with an understanding of the relevant legislation.
- Sound level of literacy, numeracy and oral communication skills including basic computer skills and mapping skills with proven high-level problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate and source viable solutions when working in an outdoors/field workplace.
- Demonstrated commitment to work as an effective, positive team member in an environment that encourages staff to maintain self-motivation as you may need to work under remote supervision.
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and the ability to build effective relationships with employees at all levels and the general public.
