Sunnybank Hills | $80,000 - $85,000 super | Permanent, Full-Time An established and growing construction and trades business is seeking a capable Accounts, Payroll and Project Administration Officer to join its team.
This newly created position offers genuine variety across payroll, accounts, bookkeeping and project administration. It would suit a proactive all-rounder who enjoys working within an SME and is happy to take ownership while supporting the wider business wherever needed.
The company is currently supported by external bookkeepers, allowing the successful candidate to grow into the position and take on greater responsibility over time.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include
- Processing weekly payroll for approximately 30 employees
- Maintaining payroll and payment information for 10–15 subcontractors
- Managing employee onboarding and payroll records
- Processing accounts payable and supplier invoices
- Completing bank and account reconciliations
- Assisting with month-end processes
- Supporting BAS and IAS preparation
- Raising and managing purchase orders
- Processing daily labour and material dockets
- Maintaining accurate job and project information
- Assisting project managers and supervisors with administrative requirements
- Supporting progress claims and retention records
- Maintaining the company’s asset register
- Assisting with stocktakes
- Providing general finance, project and office administration support
About You To be successful,
you will ideally offer:
- Previous experience in an accounts, bookkeeping or payroll position
- Strong working knowledge of Xero
- Hands-on payroll and accounts payable experience
- Experience within construction, trades or another project-based environment
- An understanding of job costing, progress claims and retentions
- Strong organisation and attention to detail
- Confidence communicating with project managers, supervisors, suppliers and subcontractors
- The ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
- A flexible, proactive attitude and willingness to wear multiple hats
Experience using LiveCosts, Hubdoc or Synchronise would be advantageous but is not essential.
