Building Associate

Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Building Associate to join our team and support the successful delivery of construction projects from planning through to completion. This role plays a vital part in supervising construction sites and coordinating the material and human resources required to keep projects running efficiently and on schedule. The ideal candidate is a proactive and organised professional with a solid understanding of construction processes, the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, and a commitment to upholding safety and quality standards on site.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist construction managers, architects, and surveyors in the planning, organisation, and day-to-day management of construction projects

- Coordinate and monitor work programmes to ensure project milestones and deadlines are met across all stages of construction

- Calculate costs, prepare budget estimates, and develop realistic time scales to support informed project decision-making

- Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel to ensure the timely procurement and delivery of materials and equipment

- Supervise on-site activities to ensure work is carried out in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and relevant building codes

- Monitor and enforce compliance with workplace health and safety legislation, site safety plans, and company policies

- Maintain accurate site documentation, including daily site reports, progress records, variation logs, and correspondence

- Support the management of site resources, including labour scheduling and allocation of equipment, to maximise productivity and minimise downtime

- Identify and report potential risks, delays,



or issues to project managers and assist in developing practical solutions to keep projects on track

- Attend project meetings, take minutes, and communicate updates clearly to stakeholders and relevant team members

- Assist with the review and interpretation of technical drawings, specifications, and contracts to support accurate project delivery

- Contribute to post-project reviews and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes and outcomes across future projects

Required Qualifications & Skills

- A Certificate IV or Diploma in Building and Construction, Construction Management, or a related discipline

- Demonstrated experience in a similar construction or building support role, ideally within a commercial or residential project environment

- Sound understanding of construction processes, methods, and sequencing across various project types

- Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural drawings, engineering plans, and technical specifications

- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams simultaneously

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with clients, contractors, and internal teams

- Competency in construction management or project management software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite

- Working knowledge of Australian building codes, standards, and workplace health and safety legislation




- A current and valid driver's licence with the ability to travel between project sites as required
- A proactive, solution-focused approach with strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality outcomes

Preferred Qualifications

- A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Building, Civil Engineering, or a related field

- Experience using estimating or scheduling software such as Buildsoft, Procore, or Microsoft Project

- Knowledge of sustainability practices and green building principles, including familiarity with Green Star or NABERS rating systems

- Experience working across both residential and commercial construction environments

- First Aid Certificate or White Card (Construction Induction Training), if not already held
