About the role

Excel Roofing & Cladding P/L is seeking a skilled and dedicated Building Labourer to join our dynamic team in Hobart, TAS 7000. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in supporting our roofing and cladding projects. As a Building Labourer, you will be an essential part of our construction operations, ensuring that projects run smoothly and safely from start to finish.

You will work on-site, contributing to the successful delivery of high-quality roofing and cladding solutions for our clients across Tasmania.

What you'll be doing

- Assisting skilled tradespeople with roofing and cladding installation, including material handling and site preparation
- Preparing work areas by clearing debris, setting up safety equipment and organising materials in an efficient manner
- Mixing and preparing materials such as mortar, adhesives and other compounds as required
- Carrying, loading and unloading heavy materials and tools, ensuring proper storage and safety protocols are followed
- Maintaining a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations and site requirements
- Assisting with scaffolding setup, dismantling and maintenance as directed
- Supporting the team with general construction tasks including digging, trenching and site excavation work
- Operating basic hand tools and power tools under supervision, whilst maintaining safe working practices
- Reporting any safety concerns, hazards or defects immediately to the site supervisor
- Contributing to team efforts to meet project deadlines and maintain quality standards

What we're looking for

- Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labour safely and effectively in all weather conditions
- A solid work ethic and commitment to completing tasks with attention to detail
- Excellent health and safety awareness with a willingness to follow all site protocols and procedures
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for understanding instructions and measurements




- The ability to work effectively as part of a team, taking direction from supervisors and skilled tradespeople
- Reliability and punctuality, with consistent attendance essential
- Preferably some previous experience in construction, building, or general labouring roles
- A valid driver's licence is desirable for site mobility
- Current First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it
- Any relevant certifications such as White Card (Construction Safety Induction) or equivalent are advantageous
