About the RoleDFP Recruitment is seeking an experienced Building Inspector/Supervisor to join our Government client in Townsville on a temporary contract. This position plays a key role in delivering high-quality building condition assessments, inspection services, and maintenance support across a vast and diverse North Queensland region.

The successful candidate will undertake regular travel throughout the contract period, including overnight stays of up to two weeks at a time, servicing communities from Ingham to Home Hill, west to the Northern Territory border, south to the South Australian border, and remote locations including Birdsville, Mornington Island, Palm Island, and Doomadgee.

Travel may be undertaken by road, air, and occasionally by boat. Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate and deliver high-quality condition assessment services for QBuild clients.
- Conduct inspections, surveys, and pricing estimates of building elements and construction materials.
- Collect samples of suspected asbestos-containing materials for laboratory testing.
- Undertake tenancy management inspections and maintenance referrals on behalf of Government Employee Housing.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Maintain compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, employment equity principles, and human resource policies.
- Ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with established standards and procedures.

Mandatory Requirements

- Construction industry trade qualification (highly desirable).
- Current Workplace Health and Safety General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
- Current C Class Driver Licence.
- Ability and willingness to undertake regular regional and remote travel.

About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Solid knowledge of building construction, maintenance, and condition assessments.




- Experience conducting building inspections and preparing estimates or reports.
- Sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and communities.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Teams, Word, and PDF-based systems.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently across a large geographical region.
