Role Description
This is a full-time or part-time Building Inspector role based near or in Baldivis, WA. The Building Inspector will carry out thorough building and site inspections for residential and commercial properties, documenting structural conditions, safety issues, and compliance with relevant codes and standards. Daily tasks include assessing plumbing and other building systems, identifying defects or potential risks, and preparing clear, detailed, and actionable inspection reports for clients.
The role involves liaising with property owners, builders, and other stakeholders to explain findings, answer questions, and provide guidance on remediation or maintenance.
The Building Inspector is expected to maintain accurate records, adhere to regulatory and company procedures,
and contribute to continuous improvement of inspection practices.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Building Inspections and Inspection practices, including preparing clear and concise inspection reports to Australian Standards.
- Experience conducting Site Inspections with attention to structural integrity, safety, future maintenance and overall building condition.
- Knowledge of building codes and Australian Standards over the last 10 years, with the ability to assess compliance on-site.
- Working understanding of roofing, waterproofing, bricklaying, roof carpentry, internal and external cladding and painting standards as they relate to building performance and safety would be required as a minimum. Some knowledge of tiling, plumbing, electrical, cabinetry, concrete and paving would be desirable.
- Registered Building Practitioner status required.
- Demonstrated field experience in construction, building trades, or building inspection (multi-year experience highly beneficial).
- Strong observational skills, detail orientation, and ability to identify defects and potential risks.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical findings in plain language.
- Proficiency with digital tools for report writing, photography, and documentation.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to inspection sites across the Perth/Mandurah region south of the river.
