As we continue to grow, we are looking for a motivated and technically minded Business Development Engineer to identify, develop, and win new business opportunities around the Brisbane area and throughout Queensland.

About the Role The Business Development Engineer will be responsible for developing new customer accounts and growing Barcomation's presence across key markets, including Manufacturing, Utilities, Factory Automation, and Logistics Automation.

This role suits someone who enjoys building relationships, identifying customer problems, and working with internal technical teams to turn opportunities into practical automation solutions. You will actively prospect for new business, manage customer relationships, support quoting and proposal activity, and help drive revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

- Identify and target new customer accounts across industrial, manufacturing, logistics, and automation-related sectors.
- Develop business opportunities in Parts, Service, Factory Automation, and Logistics Automation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and industry contacts.
- Understand customer requirements and work with internal engineering teams to develop suitable solutions.
- Prepare and support quotations, proposals, and commercial follow-ups.
- Manage the sales pipeline from initial contact through to opportunity close.
- Conduct customer visits, site meetings, and presentations.
- Promote Barcomation's products, services, and technical capabilities.
- Maintain accurate records of leads, opportunities, customer activity, and forecasts.




- Support broader business growth initiatives and market development activities.

About You You are commercially driven, technically curious, and confident speaking with customers in industrial environments. You may already have experience in sales, business development, automation, engineering, or industrial products, and you are looking for a role where you can combine technical understanding with customer-facing growth.

Skills and Experience

- Experience in business development, sales, account management, or technical sales.
- Exposure to industrial automation, electrical controls, manufacturing, logistics, or engineering environments.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to understand technical customer requirements and translate them into business opportunities.
- Self-motivated, organised, and comfortable working independently.
- Strong follow-up discipline and ability to manage multiple opportunities at once.
- Current driver's licence and willingness to visit customer sites.

Desirable but Not Essential

- Background in factory automation, logistics automation, electrical engineering, mechatronics, controls, or industrial parts.
- Experience with automation components, PLCs, sensors, drives, robotics, conveyors, or control systems.
- Existing network within manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, or industrial sectors.
- Experience using CRM or sales pipeline management tools.
