The prospect
Weathertex is looking for an experienced, well-connected and commercially driven Business Development Manager to grow demand and market share across Sydney Metro and the Lower Central Coast.
You will manage Parramatta, the Sutherland Shire, Sydney's Inner West, the Upper North Shore, Northern Beaches and the Lower Central Coast. Working across the residential and medium-density sectors, you will strengthen existing relationships, develop new opportunities and build a healthy project pipeline.
The role works throughout the specification and supply chain - engaging reseller merchants, distributors, builders, developers, installers, architects and designers to communicate the distinct benefits of Weathertex products and convert opportunities into sustainable sales growth.
About
Weathertex
Weathertex is an Australian-made, family-owned manufacturer of sustainable timber cladding and wall-panel products. Based in Heatherbrae, NSW, we have been manufacturing building products since 1964.
Our products are made without added glues, resins, formaldehyde or silica. We are proud of our distinctive manufacturing process, practical product performance and commitment to helping customers make a better material choice. What you'll do
- Develop and execute a territory plan that creates demand, grows sales and increases Weathertex's market presence.
- Build productive relationships with distributors, reseller merchants and their sales teams, builders, developers, installers, architects and designers.
- Identify and pursue new projects, accounts and channel opportunities while retaining and growing existing business.
- Maintain an active, qualified pipeline and provide clear market intelligence, forecasts and progress updates.
- Support projects from early engagement and specification through to merchant supply and conversion.
- Educate customers and industry stakeholders on Weathertex products, applications and value proposition.
- Monitor market activity, competitor movements and territory gaps, then translate insights into focused sales actions.
- Collaborate with the broader sales, marketing and technical teams to deliver a consistent customer experience. What you'll bring
You are a proactive relationship builder who is comfortable opening doors, progressing complex opportunities and following through. You combine commercial discipline with practical knowledge of the building and construction market.
- Demonstrated sales or business development experience within building products, construction or a related industry.
- An established network in the residential or medium-density building market, particularly among builders, reseller merchants or other channel partners.
- Experience winning new business while managing and growing established customer relationships.
- The ability to analyse territory gaps and market trends, build a plan and execute it consistently.
- Working knowledge of architectural specification, building practices or construction pathways.
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.
- A self-directed, team-oriented approach and the ability to balance immediate opportunities with longer-term development.
- A current Australian driver's licence and the ability to travel regularly throughout the territory.
A qualification in business, construction or a related discipline is desirable, but relevant industry experience and relationships will be highly regarded. What we offer
- A performance-based incentive for achieving sales targets.
- A company vehicle for territory travel.
- Career development within an established Australian manufacturer.
- A collaborative, respectful workplace where initiative, practical thinking and shared success are valued.
- The opportunity to represent a distinctive, sustainability-focused building product range. Ready to build something better?
If you know the building-products market, enjoy creating opportunities and want to help grow an Australian-made brand, we'd like to hear from you. Apply with your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your relevant territory experience, industry relationships and approach to business development. Weathertex, a better choice, naturally!
