Southern Cross Education Institute (SCEI) and Southern Cross Education Institute – Higher Education (SCEI-HE) are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Business Development Officer to lead student recruitment and market expansion across China.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and nurture strong, productive relationships with education agents and recruitment partners across China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau.
- Actively promote SCEI and SCEI-HE programs to Chinese-speaking prospective students, families, and communities.
- Identify and convert new business development and student recruitment opportunities.




- Respond promptly to enquiries and guide prospective students and agents smoothly through the enrolment journey.
- Generate, qualify, follow up, and manage high-quality leads to successful enrolment.
- Deliver accurate, professional advice on programs, entry requirements, and enrolment processes.
- Represent SCEI and SCEI-HE at recruitment events, information sessions, exhibitions, and community activities.
- Conduct insightful market research and stay ahead of recruitment trends and competitor activity.
- Maintain excellent records of engagement, enquiries, and outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with Admissions, Marketing, Compliance, Student Services team and Academic team.
- Prepare clear reports on recruitment performance and market intelligence.
- Meet and exceed agreed student recruitment and business development targets.
- Ensure all activities fully comply with regulatory and organisational standards.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

- Native or near-native proficiency in spoken Mandarin and excellent written Chinese.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Tertiary qualification in business, marketing, international education, or a related field.
- 2–3 years’ experience in business development, sales, or student recruitment.
- Proven track record of building and managing relationships with agents, clients, or external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, negotiation,



and relationship management skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, juggle priorities, and consistently meet targets.
- Strong administrative and digital skills (Microsoft Office + CRM systems).
- Full Australian working rights.

Desirable

- Previous experience in the Australian education sector or international student recruitment.
- Existing network of Chinese education agents, community groups, or student networks.
- Solid understanding of international student processes, ESOS, CRICOS, and the National Code.
- Experience organising education exhibitions, seminars, or recruitment events.
- Current National Police Check and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
