About the Role
Based at our Lane Cove Community Access HUB and as a Community Access Support Worker, you will provide high-quality, person-centred support to participants both in the community and at our day program. You will primarily provide 1:1 support while encouraging independence, community participation and skill development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting participants to achieve their individual goals.
- Delivering active support that promotes independence and choice.
- Assisting participants to build and maintain meaningful social connections.
- Implementing Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) and Positive Behaviour Support strategies.
- Safely supporting participants who display behaviours of concern.
- Managing behaviours proactively and safely within the community and while transporting participants.
- Providing safe transport to and from community activities using a company vehicle.
- Maintaining accurate documentation and communicating effectively with the wider support team.
Who We’re Looking For
- Experienced supporting individuals with behaviours of concern.
- Confident implementing restrictive practices in accordance with Behaviour Support Plans and organisational policies.
- Knowledgeable in Positive Behaviour Support and trauma-informed practice.
- Engaging, enthusiastic and able to motivate participants.
- Emotionally resilient, calm under pressure and able to respond professionally in challenging situations.
- Reliable, proactive and committed to delivering exceptional support.
- Comfortable working independently while remaining a collaborative team member.
Essential requirements
- Availability Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 3:00pm.
- Previous disability support experience.
- Experience supporting participants with complex behaviours.
- Understanding of Behaviour Support Plans and restrictive practices.
- Current unrestricted Australian Driver Licence and confidence driving participants.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Current First Aid & CPR.
- Full Australian working rights
