Freddie's Ascot is a welcoming neighbourhood café in the heart of Ascot QLD 4007, known for its specialty coffee, all-day brunch, fresh smoothies, and handcrafted custom cakes. With a warm, family-friendly atmosphere, pet-friendly seating, and a leafy setting, it's the perfect place to catch up with friends, enjoy a relaxed meal, or host casual celebrations and business gatherings.
Freddie's Ascot is now looking for an experienced Chef to join their team.
The right candidate will be responsible for:
- Plan and develop seasonal menus in collaboration with the Venue Manager, ensuring quality, creativity, and cost efficiency.
- Prepare and cook a variety of breakfast, brunch, and café-style dishes to a consistently high standard.
- Prepare fresh ingredients, including washing, chopping, slicing, and portioning fruits, vegetables, meats, and seafood.
- Operate all kitchen stations efficiently to ensure smooth and timely food service during busy periods.
- Train and mentor kitchen staff on food preparation, cooking techniques, plating, and food safety procedures.
- Allocate daily tasks and supervise kitchen staff to maintain productivity and service standards.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering ingredients and kitchen supplies.
- Liaise with front-of-house staff to ensure accurate, timely, and productive delivery of customer orders.
- Rotate stock and monitor ingredient freshness in accordance with FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory practices.
- Assist the kitchen team throughout all stages of food preparation and service as required.
- Coordinate the kitchen pass to ensure dishes are prepared, presented, and served promptly.
- Store, thaw, and handle ingredients safely in accordance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Inspect food quality, cooking temperatures, presentation, portion sizes, and seasoning to maintain consistency and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant kitchen environment in accordance with health and safety standards.
About you:
- At least 1 year of experience as a Chef;
- Strong knowledge of contemporary Australian cuisine;
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume café kitchen while maintaining quality and consistency.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to delivering exceptional food and customer satisfaction.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff.
- Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP principles, with experience maintaining a clean and compliant kitchen.
- Skilled in food preparation, presentation, stock rotation, and inventory management.
- Ability to multitask, prioritise workloads, and perform well under pressure during busy service periods.
- Passion for using fresh, high-quality ingredients to create consistently excellent café-style dishes.
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent;
Salary: $79,000 - $85,000;
