Chef (Full-Time) – Sri Lankan Restaurant | Gold Coast

We are a Sri Lankan restaurant located in Southport on the Gold Coast, and we are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Full-Time Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about food, works well in a fast-paced kitchen environment, and takes pride in maintaining high standards of quality and consistency.

About the Role The successful candidate will be responsible for:

- Preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality dishes in accordance with restaurant standards.
- Assisting with menu planning and the development of dishes.
- Managing stock levels, inventory, and ordering kitchen supplies.
- Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in accordance with Australian regulations.
- Supervising, supporting, and training kitchen staff to ensure consistency in food preparation and service.
- Monitoring portion control and assisting in minimising food wastage.
- Ensuring efficient kitchen operations during busy service periods.
- Working collaboratively with the kitchen and front-of-house teams.

Applicant Requirements To be considered for this position, applicants should:




- Hold a relevant formal qualification in Commercial Cookery (Certificate III or higher).
- Have at least 1 year of relevant full-time work experience in a commercial kitchen, in addition to formal qualifications.
- Have a robust understanding of food safety, hygiene, and WHS requirements.
- Demonstrate excellent teamwork, communication, organisation, and time-management skills.
- Be reliable, professional, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Experience with Sri Lankan cuisine is highly regarded; however, applicants from other culinary backgrounds who are willing to learn and develop their knowledge of authentic Sri Lankan cuisine are also encouraged to apply.

Remuneration

This is a full-time position with a base salary of $60,000–$65,000 per annum, plus superannuation, depending on qualifications, skills, and experience.
