Role Description The Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) will lead the overall human resources strategy and operations for Youth for Sustainable Policy in a fully remote, volunteer capacity. This role involves designing and maintaining HR policies, frameworks, and procedures that support a diverse, inclusive, and youth-led organizational culture.

Day-to-day tasks include overseeing talent management processes such as recruitment, onboarding, and development, managing volunteer and team member relations, and guiding performance management practices across international chapters and teams. The CHRO will collaborate with senior leadership to forecast organizational HR needs, advise on capacity building,



and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and ethical standards in different regions. The role also includes supporting conflict resolution, promoting well-being and engagement, and building HR processes suited to a global, mission-driven, youth-focused organization.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated experience in Human Resources (HR) leadership, with the ability to design and implement HR systems in mission-driven or nonprofit contexts.
- Strong command of HR Policies and frameworks, including policy development, documentation, and communication across diverse, remote teams.
- Proven skills in Employee Relations, including conflict resolution, feedback facilitation, and fostering inclusive, supportive team environments.
- Experience in Talent Management, including volunteer and staff recruitment, onboarding, retention, and development pathways.
- Knowledge of Performance Management practices, such as setting goals, designing evaluation processes, and supporting growth-oriented feedback.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote, international, youth-led organization, with robust intercultural communication and collaboration skills.
- Strategic thinking, organizational planning, and change management capabilities to support a growing global network.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional language proficiency is an asset.
- Background in human resources, organizational development, nonprofit management, or related fields; relevant certifications or training are beneficial.
