Australian School Of Entrepreneurship

Brisbane

About Us The ASE Group is a social enterprise that delivers life skills, entrepreneurship and employment programs to young people and small business owners across Australia. We have worked with nearly 300,000 people nationally, with offices in Brisbane City, Moreton Bay and Sydney and team members based around the country. This role is based in Brisbane.

We grew from four teenagers in an office to a national team of full-time, casual and contractor staff. We move fast, care deeply and hold ourselves to a standard that people feel the moment they walk into our world.

Our values are simple

- Energy: Bring authentic energy and positive momentum.

- Share the WOW: Deliver experiences that exceed expectations.

- Solve and Learn: Take ownership, get creative and learn fast.

- Be Real: Communicate directly, build trust and mean what you say.

The Role

This is a People role in every sense. Sitting at the intersection of HR and people development, you will own the people experience at ASE end-to-end: hiring, onboarding, performance, development, culture and the day-to-day experience of being part of the team.

You will work closely with the CEO, Co-Founder and Director of Programs across ASE's three divisions. You are not here to manage the programs themselves; you are here to support and grow the people who deliver them, hold the standard, spot the gaps and make things better simply by being in the room.

ASE moves quickly. Decisions are made fast and things can change between Monday and Friday. We need someone who does not need detailed structures handed to them before they can move and who thrives when trusted to figure it out.

Key Responsibilities

People and Culture

- Lead culture initiatives, including team bonding, birthdays, anniversaries and milestones across states.

- Manage employee relations, including performance, conflict and sensitive conversations.

- Establish and maintain regular check-ins with staff and create personalised development plans with clear pathways for growth, wage increases and bonus eligibility.

- Manage performance reviews, provide direct feedback and address issues early.

- Serve as the trusted point of contact for people managers on HR matters across the employee lifecycle.

- Own end-to-end recruitment across QLD and NSW, including job descriptions, screening, interviews and hiring recommendations.

- Build and run a structured onboarding framework so current starters feel welcome, prepared and set up for success.

Internal Communications

- Act as the central communication bridge between leadership and the wider team so nothing important is lost or misread.

- Attend division meetings across Employment, Entrepreneurship and AIIL to stay informed and connect the dots.

- Ensure every team member understands what is happening across the organisation, not just those closest to leadership.

- Support the CEO in turning priorities into clear direction and communication for the team.

Organisational Coordination

- Ensure ASE's HR foundations are solid and compliant across QLD and NSW, including contracts, policies, leave entitlements and employment obligations.

- Build and document practical internal processes that people actually use, not policy for its own sake.

- Regularly assess how things are running, identify inefficiencies and implement improvements without waiting to be asked.

- Develop how-to guides and training resources that help staff build the skills they need as we grow.

- Keep your own admin airtight so the organisation has what it needs, when it needs it.

About You

You have worked in a senior People and Culture or Chief of Staff-style role and know the difference between a process that looks good and one that works in the real world. You are as comfortable in a hard conversation as you are running a team day.

You will bring

- Senior P&C; or Chief of Staff experience

- Strong communication skills across all levels of a team.

- A sharp eye for detail and high personal standards.

- The ability to coach and grow staff and leaders, not just manage people.

- Experience guiding managers through complex people challenges.

- A direct, honest style and comfort with accountability.

- Strong self-management, organisation and follow-through.

- A track record of building systems that last and getting things done.

You are likely to thrive here if you are:
- Calm under pressure and a steadying presence when things get chaotic.

- Thoughtful rather than reactive.

- Empathetic and able to move from high-energy brainstorms to sensitive 1:1 conversations.

- Proactive, with a can-do attitude and a bias to fix gaps rather than wait for instructions.

- Comfortable making decisions with imperfect information and staying steady when plans shift.

- Someone who enjoys working hard, having fun and bringing a genuine sense of humour.

- Bonus points if you have worked with young founders or in fast-moving start-up environments and understand the pace, pivots and high standards that come with that. "Near enough" is not how we operate.

From the Co-Founders

"We have built something special at ASE and we now need someone who can help protect and grow it. We are looking for an A-player with experience, strong judgment and genuine care for people. Someone who coaches rather than just manages, builds systems that actually get used and holds the standard without being asked.

We move fast, we are direct and pack a lot into each day. We want to work with someone we can trust, learn from and who understands the expectations and standards that have got us here. Culture is everyone’s responsibility, but we need someone to lead the charge as we scale - you will be a big part of that."

Location and Salary

- Full-time, based in our Brisbane City Launchpad.

- You will work across both QLD and NSW teams, so flexibility and strong communication are essential. Periodic travel to Sydney is required.

- The team usually has one work-from-home Wednesday each week.

Salary range: $120,000–$140,000 (including super), with the opportunity to build a bonus and incentive structure for outstanding outcomes. We are a 16–18 FTE social enterprise without corporate budgets, but if you contribute in a big way, we want you to share in that upside.

How to Apply

Send a customised cover letter explaining why you are the best person for this role and your salary expectations. Please do not use AI tools for your cover letter - we want to meet the real you, understand how you think and how you operate. Due to the volume of applications, we will only review candidates who include a tailored cover letter.
