About Us The City of Marion is located in Adelaide's south-western suburbs, only about 10 kilometres from the Adelaide CBD. As one of South Australia's largest councils, our Civil Services team is responsible for maintaining and improving a diverse network of civil infrastructure that supports our growing community. This includes roads, footpaths, drainage systems, kerbing, and associated civil assets.
To support an expanded delivery model and strengthen the management of our maintenance programs, we are looking for a proactive and analytical Civil Operations Planner to lead the planning, prioritisation and coordination of maintenance programs across our civil asset network.
About the Role
As the Civil Operations Planner, you will:
- Lead the assessment, prioritisation and planning of civil maintenance activities across Council's asset network.
- Develop and coordinate planned and reactive maintenance programs for roads, footpaths, drainage, kerbing, traffic infrastructure and associated civil assets.
- Coordinate work schedules and scopes for internal crews and contractors to ensure maintenance is delivered safely, efficiently and on time.
- Analyse asset condition, defect trends, maintenance backlogs and operational performance to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate asset and work management data to support effective planning and reporting.
- Provide specialist advice on maintenance planning, defect management and asset condition.
- Contribute to asset management and lifecycle planning initiatives that support Council's long-term service delivery objectives.
About You You are an organised and solutions-focused professional with experience in civil maintenance planning, asset management or works programming. You enjoy working collaboratively, analysing data to inform decisions and coordinating maintenance activities that deliver practical outcomes.
You will bring
- A qualification in Civil Construction, Asset Management, Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in civil maintenance planning, works programming or asset management within a civil or asset-intensive environment.
- Knowledge of civil assets and maintenance practices.
- Experience using asset management, GIS and/or work management systems.
- Strong analytical, planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Experience in local government, lifecycle planning, contractor management or continuous improvement will be highly regarded.
