About Us

We are a certified social enterprise helping Australian households transition their homes to clean energy.

The process of understanding what you need, navigating quotes, and making decisions can be complicated and overwhelming. Our job is to make it easier.

We care about impact - this means focusing on helping clients get to a successful installation.

However, we are not salesy or pushy. As we are funded by local councils, our advice is fully independent - we take no commission from sales or installations.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Clean Energy Advisor to help households and owners corporations navigate the process of getting Solar, EV charging, and beyond.

You’re not here to sell. As an independent advisor, you’re here to diagnose, recommend, and guide.

There are two main parts to this role:

- Acting as a case manager, helping households and owners corporations navigate the journey.
- Acting as a trusted expert who helps them make the right decisions with clarity and confidence.

You’ll be in daily contact with curious households who range from technically oblivious, guilty-time poor parents to passionate optimization geeks. Your job is to make the process as easy as possible for them. You'll also be at the cutting edge of apartment electrification in Australia - we work with a number of local councils to increase the uptake of solar & EV charging in apartment buildings.

Hours and Location

This role is part-time, 30 hours per week spread over 5 days (6 hours per day) with the potential to increase to full time.

It is a fully remote role, and you can work from any location. We’re happy to work with you to set a schedule that works for you. If you have kids, there will be no problem with accommodating school pickup & dropoff.

You’ll be joining a small team of 7 people (mix of full time and part time).

Salary

$80,000 – $90,000 per year full time equivalent, pro-rata for the days you work.

What You’ll Do

Core responsibilities as an advisor:

- Respond to inbound enquiries for solar, battery, and other electrification products. No cold calling.

- Speak to households & owners corporation committees every day and understand their needs and help them move forward.
- Provide advice via email, phone, and video call, explaining complex concepts in a simple, objective, and personalised way.
- Refer to vetted installers, matching clients to the right provider and coordinating with them to ensure the best outcome for the client
- Own the customer journey, keeping the CRM up to date, following up consistently, tracking progress, and keeping things moving without dropping the ball.
- Stay sharp - keep up with new products, policy updates, and industry trends to ensure your advice is always accurate.

Non-advisory responsibilities:
- Assisting with vetting installers
- Assisting with maintaining relationships with installers
- Assisting with maintaining our knowledge base of products
- Attending the occasional site visit for education & relationship building purposes
- Covering for the Technical Director as needed, including:
- Assisting with complaint escalations
- Representing Clean Energy Advisors in meetings with local council and government stakeholders

What You Bring
- You take pride in your knowledge & providing valuable advice
- You’re obsessively customer focused and want to make sure they are looked after
- You’re naturally great at simplifying complex concepts
- You're diligent and thorough by nature
- You get great satisfaction from helping people

Experience and qualifications

Must have

- You have experience in the residential & commercial solar industry on systems up to 30 - 50 kW.
- You're already fluent in at least one major solar design platform (Pylon, OpenSolar, or similar) and are confident in putting together a solar/battery design.
- You've worked in a client-facing or stakeholder-facing capacity specifically around solar or battery proposals,

ideally managing a high volume of concurrent deals or a pipeline of contacts.
- You know how to present a recommendation clearly and help stakeholders build support - you don't just hand over information, you help people get to a decision
- Experience with or a willingness to learn about the fundamentals of thermal comfort and energy efficiency

You must hold a relevant accreditation or qualification, for example:
- SAA accreditation
- Electrical license
- Engineering degree
- Energy efficiency qualification (Scorecard, NatHers)

Bonus - any of the below:
- You own an EV or have electrified your own home
- You’re a nerd for VPPs and all the latest technology
- You have experience with owners corporations

What Success Looks Like

- You help clients gain confidence and make decisions around installation
- You manage a steady volume of clients without losing track of details or timelines.
- You’re a respected voice in the team, able to speak on behalf of the challenges of households and the latest developments in the industry and technologies.

Why Join Us

- Make a difference. The current process to get solar & EV charging is incredibly challenging for most people. Help households and owners corporations navigate this, and see real installations happen.
- True flexibility. Fully remote, part-time, with hours built around your life. Minimal site visits required, and stay-at-home parents are welcome to apply.
- Be a true independent advisor. No conflict of interest, no sales targets or commissions - your judgement is valued.
- Be at the forefront of electrification. Get exposure to the full landscape of products, technology, and grant schemes being rolled out. We work with numerous local councils to bring solar & EV charging to apartment buildings in Australia.
- Be recognised as the expert. Clients trust you the way they'd trust a doctor - not the way they warily trust a salesperson.

To apply Please email your CV and a short cover letter outlining why you are a good fit for the role, and why you want to join the ZapCat team, to [email protected]

You will be contacted if you are selected for an interview.
