The Prospect The Lions Eye Institute (LEI) is a medical research institute that combines world class scientific research and ophthalmic clinical care. We are currently looking for a Clinical Trials Coordinator to join the Lions Vision Trials team at the Lions Eye Institute. Lions Vision Trials are a division of LEI that conduct all phases of industry sponsored and investigator initiated clinical trials in ophthalmology.
This role is being offered on a full-time basis for a 12-month fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension, to coordinate new and existing clinical trials across a spectrum of eye diseases.
Reporting to the Clinical Trials Manager, this position will work collaboratively as part of the Lions Vision Trials team and closely with the Lions Eye Institute clinical services, to undertake the following responsibilities:
- Liaise with sponsors, clinical research organisations, external vendors & internal staff for all site-specific aspects of the trial.
- Monitor participants’ safety and report appropriately and maintain confidentiality at all time
- Clearly document and communicate relevant information to all team members, medical staff, internal/external customers, stakeholders
- Communicating effectively with study team members, investigators, and other stakeholders as appropriate
- Assist in the recruitment of clinical trial participants, schedule participant visits, organisation and management/care of study participants.
- Development and maintenance of clinical excellence in the delivery of patient care
- Undertake other duties pertinent to specific clinical trials or Unit requirements.

Essential
- Tertiary qualification in Science or Health Sciences or equivalent based on experience
- Previous experience working in clinical trials/ research
- An established understanding of clinical trials protocols, ICH-GCP guidelines, ethics and governance
- Demonstrated database management skills
- Time management skills, ability to prioritise, manage competing tasks and meet deadlines
- Self-motivated, detail oriented and the ability to work effectively independently and within a team environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the desire to support and contribute to a healthy work culture and forwarding thinking team environment
- Experience working in a hospital or clinical environment
- Demonstrated computer literacy (i.e Microsoft office)
- Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or unrestricted work rights are required
Desirable
- Relevant Ophthalmic experience
