If you're someone who enjoys owning and continuously improving a Microsoft cloud environment rather than simply keeping the lights on, this could be exactly what you're looking for.
I'm working with an established, growing organisation investing heavily in its cloud capability. This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll play a key part in the administration, optimisation and ongoing evolution of their Microsoft 365 and Azure setting.
You'll join a small, highly collaborative cloud team where you'll have genuine ownership, autonomy and the opportunity to influence how the environment evolves over time.
What you'll be working on
Your role will span four key areas:
- Azure infrastructure including virtual machines, networking, Azure Firewall, backup and RBAC
- Identity and Access Management across Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, PIM and SSO
- Microsoft 365 administration covering Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Defender and Secure Score
- Cloud FinOps, helping optimise Azure spend, licensing, forecasting and ongoing cost management
This isn't a project-only role. It's about owning a modern Microsoft cloud environment, continuously improving it and making smart technical and commercial decisions along the way.
What they're looking for
You'll likely bring experience across most of the following:
- Strong hands-on experience administering Azure and Microsoft 365 environments
- Solid understanding of Entra ID, identity governance and access management
- Experience with Azure networking, virtual machines, backup and cloud infrastructure
- Microsoft 365 administration across Exchange Online, Teams and SharePoint
- PowerShell scripting and automation
- Experience managing cloud licensing, Azure Cost Management or FinOps practices
- The ability to troubleshoot complex cloud issues and improve platform reliability
Why it's worth considering
This is the type of role where you'll have genuine ownership rather than being one person in a large support function.
You'll work alongside experienced engineers, have exposure across the entire Microsoft cloud stack, and be trusted to make recommendations that improve performance, security and cost efficiency.
If you enjoy wearing multiple hats, solving interesting technical problems and continuously improving cloud platforms, I'd love to tell you more.
