Our Client
Our client is a large international chemical group and one of Europe’s leading producers and suppliers of key chemical raw materials. The group is now seeking an accomplished Commercial Director to establish and grow its Australian crop protection business.
The Role
This is a rare opportunity for a highly connected commercial leader to shape a new market operation from its earliest stage. Initially focused on market entry, distributor engagement and revenue growth, the position is expected to develop into full leadership of the Australian business, including operational and P&L; responsibility. The successful candidate will bring immediate credibility with major Australian crop protection distributors and the commercial judgement to convert strong industry relationships into sustainable long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Introduce and promote new crop protection products to major distributors and relevant industry bodies
- Open commercial discussions with key decision-makers and secure strategic distribution opportunities
- Develop and execute the Australian market-entry and growth strategy
- Build a sustainable national sales network and, over time, the supporting commercial functions
- Drive business development across sales, marketing, channel strategy and sales systems
- Lead the Australian operation as it expands, with accountability for performance and profitability
Experience & Background
- A minimum of 15 years’ commercial experience within the crop protection or agrochemical industry
- At least 10 years’ sales experience in agribusiness, ideally with a leading multinational crop protection company
- A proven record in a senior commercial leadership role, such as Commercial Director, Regional Sales Director or Country Head
- Deep knowledge of the Australian market and established relationships with major distributors, including Elders, Nutrien and AgLink
- Strong networks among agronomists, industry leaders and other key market influencers
- The strategic capability, energy and hands-on approach required to build a business in a new market
- Solid commercial acumen and the capacity to assume full P&L; responsibility as the business grows
Location & Remuneration The role may be based in any major Australian capital city. Competitive executive remuneration will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
