Role Highlights
Reporting to the Senior Manager Commercial and Customer, the Commercial Manager is responsible for the effective management of existing customer relationships and commercial contracts, while identifying and developing new opportunities that deliver value to Fremantle Ports and its customers. The role works closely with a diverse range of stakeholders across the supply chain to negotiate commercial agreements, optimise performance, and support strategic growth initiatives
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Leading complex commercial negotiations and managing customer contracts across their full lifecycle.
- Building and maintaining strategic relationships with customers, supply chain partners and key industry stakeholders.
- Developing and implementing commercial strategies that maximise customer value and support organisational objectives.
- Managing contract performance, compliance, and reporting metrics to drive consistency, effectiveness and continuous improvement.
- Identifying and developing new customer opportunities and commercial solutions that contribute to growth and profitability.
- Preparing business cases and commercial proposals informed by industry analysis and market research.
- Managing customer relationship management (CRM) strategies and supporting customer onboarding processes.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver effective commercial outcomes and supply chain solutions.
- Identifying and communicating financial, legal and operational risks associated with contractual arrangements.
- Representing Fremantle Ports at relevant industry forums, committees and stakeholder engagements.
- Working closely with internal legal, operational and commercial teams to ensure best-practice contract governance and compliance.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Relevant tertiary qualification or significant equivalent experience in a related commercial field.
- Extensive experience managing senior stakeholder relationships.
- Demonstrated success negotiating and managing complex commercial contracts.
- Experience operating within a commercial or business-focused environment.
- Proven ability to identify and develop business growth opportunities.
- Experience delivering commercial outcomes through collaboration, influence and negotiation.
Skills and Capabilities
- Robust commercial acumen and ability to optimise value across the supply chain.
- Extensive contract management experience and sound understanding of commercial principles.
- Excellent relationship-building, communication and influencing skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on practical business outcomes.
- Experience in contract development and a working knowledge of project management principles.
- Excellent written communication skills for preparing commercial documentation and contractual correspondence.
- Ability to work autonomously while managing competing priorities and delivering results.
- Demonstrated capability in change management and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
