Community & Events Specialist

$100,000 - $115,000K Super

Activewear & Lifestyle | Sydney | Full Time

Our client is one of Australia's most loved activewear brands - born from a simple frustration that activewear always seemed to be either functional or fashionable, never both. So they made it themselves. A decade on, that founder-led spirit is still what drives the business.

This is a brand with a purpose bigger than product. Their mission is to inspire women through movement - to empower their community to run their own race and celebrate individuality.

Conscious practice runs through everything they do, from the recycled materials in the product to the way they operate as a business. They give back with every sale. And their customers feel all of it - this is a brand with a genuine cult following, where people do not just buy the product, they belong to the community around it.

There is already an established run community bringing people together every week, retail stores embedded in their local areas, a thriving online store and a national wholesale presence - and the business is scaling quickly, with more stores on the way.

They have now reached the point where that community deserves someone dedicated to building it properly.

The role

- Own the national community strategy and build a twelve month calendar of events, activations and experiences aligned to product launches, campaigns and store openings
- Spearhead the brand's established run community - planning routes, hosting sessions, building an inclusive culture and growing attendance week on week. A ready-made community to lead from day one

- Deliver events end to end - concept, planning, budgets, venues, suppliers, guest communication and being there on the day making it happen
- Create everything from intimate community gatherings to retail activations and larger brand moments, at a consistent rhythm across every store and region
- Build the ambassador network and nurture partnerships across fitness studios, wellness businesses and aligned brands
- Partner with retail teams on in-store activations, new store openings and helping each location connect with its local area
- Work alongside the social and PR teams to capture and amplify every community moment
- Establish and track the KPIs that matter - attendance, engagement, community growth, sentiment - and use them to make every activation better than the last

Why this role is worth your attention

This is not inheriting someone else's programme. The strategy, the calendar, the run club, the network and the results all sit with one person - and in a business this size, the work is visible from day one.

The brand is scaling fast. More stores are opening, the team is growing and community sits at the heart of the growth plan.

The intent is for this role to grow into leading the channel nationally as the business expands.

And the culture backs it. This is a test and learn business where people bring ideas, move quickly and own their results. No committees. No waiting for sign-off. If you have ever sat in a big machine wishing you could just get on with it - this is the opposite of that.

What you will need

- Several years of hands-on events experience - events has been a core part of your actual job, and you have owned delivery end to end
- Experience building community, not just delivering events - programmes and experiences designed to bring people back, not one-off moments
- Experience hosting real-life community events or movement-based sessions - run or fitness-led a genuine bonus
- Experience with ambassadors, partnerships or community networks
- Strong organisation and project management - budgets, timelines, suppliers, logistics, and the capacity to deliver consistently at volume
- Confidence hosting and leading experiences in person
- A genuine, personal connection to health, wellness and movement - you will be on the ground in this community and they will know if you are not one of them
- Initiative, transparent communication and a reason behind everything you do

The practical bits

Sydney based. Salary $100,000 to $115,000 plus super depending on experience. Some early morning, evening and weekend activity comes with the territory of community events - flexibility works both ways here.
