Conservation Field Labourer
About the prospect
GraceWell Group is seeking reliable and physically capable casual field labourers to support our client, a South Australian not-for-profit organisation delivering conservation, revegetation and biodiversity projects. The immediate priority is a planting project in the Kanmantoo region that needs additional hands to place plants in the ground before the weather warms and the soil dries.
This is practical, outdoor work with a strong community and environmental purpose. Previous conservation or planting experience is welcome but is not essential. Reliability, physical fitness, a positive attitude and the ability to follow safety instructions are most important.
What you will do
· Manually dig planting holes using mattocks and other hand tools, including in rocky ground.
· Assist with planting native seedlings and installing stakes and protective guards.
· Move plants, guards and light materials around field sites.
· Follow the daily toolbox talk, site layout and directions from the Senior Field Worker or Leading Hand.
· Maintain safe separation from other workers while using hand tools.
· Help keep the worksite tidy by collecting trays, packaging, plant tubes and other materials.
· Work safely across uneven or moderately steep outdoor terrain and in changing weather conditions.
What we are looking for
· A reliable person who arrives on time and communicates early if circumstances change.
· Physically capable of repetitive manual digging and a full day of active outdoor work.
· Comfortable working in cool, wet, windy or warm conditions when it remains safe to do so.
· Able to understand and follow verbal, written and demonstrated safety instructions.
· Able to reach the agreed pickup point at the required time each day.
· Available Monday to Friday for the project period, ideally through the end of August.
· Valid Australian working rights.
· Previous labouring, landscaping, farming, horticulture, construction or revegetation experience is advantageous but not required.
PPE and personal requirements
· You must provide: sturdy work boots, long work pants, suitable clothing for outdoor work, lunch and a refillable water bottle.
· The client provides: work gloves, safety glasses and high-visibility vests. Wet-weather gear may be supplied where required.
Why join this project?
· Immediate weekday work with a respected not-for-profit conservation organisation.
· Work that makes a visible contribution to habitat restoration and biodiversity in South Australia.
· Potential for further project work for reliable, high-performing workers.
· Support from GraceWell before, during and after placement.
How to apply
Apply with your current résumé and confirm your availability, working rights, preferred pickup point and relevant outdoor or manual work experience. Shortlisted applicants will complete a brief recorded interview and onboarding checks.
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
