- Band 7 - salary commencing at $112,111.94 per annum + 12% superannuation (commensurate with experience)

The Opportunity
Moonee Valley City Council is seeking an experienced and collaborative Coordinator Engagement to lead the organisation's community and stakeholder engagement function.
In this pivotal leadership role, you will provide strategic direction and expertise across Council, championing inclusive and accessible engagement practices that strengthen community participation, support informed decision-making, and meet Council's obligations under the Local Government Act 2020 (Vic). Working closely with leaders and teams across the organisation, you will drive best practice engagement, build organisational capability, and create genuine opportunities for the community to influence decisions that affect them.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee community engagement initiatives across Council.
- Drive the implementation of Council's Community Engagement Policy and associated frameworks.
- Provide strategic advice and specialist expertise on engagement planning, delivery and evaluation.
- Build strong partnerships across the organisation to embed best practice engagement approaches.
- Collaborate with the Communications team to deliver effective engagement campaigns.
- Support the organisation to utilise accessible and inclusive engagement tools and methodologies.
- Evaluate engagement outcomes and provide reporting and insights to support continuous improvement.
- Lead, coach and develop the Community Engagement team to deliver high-quality services and outcomes.
- Manage complex stakeholder relationships and support teams across Council to engage effectively with diverse community groups.
- Participate in organisational leadership forums and represent Council within external engagement networks.
Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated expertise in community and stakeholder engagement, including a strong understanding of IAP2 principles and practices.
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, community planning, community development or a related discipline.
- Significant experience designing, delivering and evaluating community engagement programs in complex environments.
- Robust project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes.
- Experience using community insights, research and data to inform decision-making and engagement strategies.
- Exceptional relationship-building and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing reports, project plans and engagement materials for a variety of audiences.
- Proven leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
