Join a growing Credit Loss Modelling team as a key member responsible for credit risk models across the Wholesale and SME portfolios for a top-tier global bank.

The Role The team is led by a new Head of Credit Loss Modelling, who is building out the function with this newly created Manager role. Sitting between regulatory capital modelling and credit provisioning, you will work across both regulatory credit risk models (IRB/PD, LGD, EAD) and provisioning/impairment models (IFRS9/AASB9), helping shape the strategic direction of the team as it scales.

This includes managing and engaging senior stakeholders across key projects, leading the development, monitoring and maintenance of credit models, and building out the framework and underlying components required for strong model governance. You will manage interactions with second-line functions, internal and external audit, and regulators on all matters relating to credit model governance.

Required Skillset

- Advanced quantitative background with strong technical expertise, underpinned by a degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial studies, finance, or a related quantitative discipline
- Experience in either regulatory credit risk modelling (IRB model lifecycle - development, monitoring, or validation) or provisioning/impairment modelling (IFRS9, AASB9, expected credit loss, stress testing) - candidates with experience across both are strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of credit risk parameters (PD, LGD, EAD) and their application within Wholesale and/or SME portfolios

- Solid understanding of APRA regulatory capital requirements (Basel-aligned or equivalent) and provisioning standards
- Solid grasp of model governance principles, including model risk management frameworks, documentation standards, and engagement with independent validation and audit functions
- Experience in financial services, ideally within a bank or similar credit risk-modelling environment
- Proficiency in R and/or Python for model development, testing, and analytics
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders, second-line risk, and regulators
- Demonstrated tenacity, flexibility, and the ability to work autonomously or collaboratively while managing multiple concurrent priorities

Not a fit for:

- Retail credit modelling backgrounds
- Pricing models, managerial/behavioural scorecards, or acceptance scorecards
- Highly technical machine learning backgrounds with no exposure to wholesale/SME credit modelling (this role is regulatory/provisioning-focused, not an ML research role)

About the Function

This role sits within an independent, centralised Risk Management function responsible for objective review and challenge, oversight, monitoring, and reporting across the organisation's material risks. The team spans compliance, credit, financial crime risk, market risk, operational risk, and prudential risk, operating globally to manage current risks and anticipate emerging ones.

Please apply to be considered!
