The Police Assistance Centre is a busy, 24hr x 7 days per week environment. The full time positions operate under shift work arrangements working 10 hours per day. The average number of days worked each week equates to four days, with Customer Service Operators within the Police Assistance Centre working a 12 week cyclic roster that has been designed with work life balance in mind to maximise rostered days off.
The requirement to undertake shift work also attracts generous penalties in accordance with the Award conditions.
Initial training for this challenging and rewarding role takes eight to ten weeks (Monday to Friday). The training course is designed to complement and build on your existing skills to prepare you for a career making a substantial difference to the West Australian community managing calls received via Triple Zero (000) and 131444.
The State Communications Division primary location is Midland however, subject to operational requirements,
these positions may be required to work from an alternate backup facility in the Perth Metropolitan area.
This is a pool recruitment process (Ref 01195). This pool will run for a period of twelve (12) months and may be used to fill ongoing fixed term contracts, secondments, acting/relieving and permanent opportunities (full and part time).
There are currently multiple positions available, the WA Police Force intends to fill via this pool process.
POSITION OBJECTIVE
These positions contribute to the provision of an productive and effective law enforcement customer service by responding to emergency and routine telephone calls from the community received via Triple Zero (000), [131 444](tel:131 444) and other general customer service lines including security monitoring centres, Crime Stoppers, police stations and requests for assistance from St John Ambulance (WA), the Department of Fire and Emergency Services and local government authorities.
