About the Role An established financial services organisation is seeking an experienced IT Helpdesk Engineer / Desktop Support Engineer to join its Sydney CBD office. This role is ideal for a customer-focused IT professional who thrives in a high-performance corporate environment and enjoys providing exceptional support to senior business stakeholders.
Working as the primary local IT contact, you will provide hands-on desktop and end-user support while partnering with regional and global technology teams. The role offers broad exposure across end-user computing, infrastructure support, vendor management, onboarding, and technology projects.
This position is initially fully on-site, five days per week, supporting a professional office workplace with a strong focus on service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Level 1 and Level 2 desktop support to office-based users.
- Support PCs, laptops, monitors, printers, mobile devices, desk phones, headsets, and conferencing technologies.
- Deliver high-quality support to senior executives, business leaders, and VIP stakeholders.
- Manage incidents, requests, and service activities through ServiceNow.
- Perform workstation deployments, upgrades, patching, and maintenance activities.
- Coordinate user onboarding, offboarding, and equipment provisioning.
- Maintain hardware asset inventories and life cycle management processes.
- Support local office infrastructure and assist with troubleshooting connectivity issues.
- Liaise with vendors, service providers, and external support partners.
- Assist with procurement, invoicing, asset tracking,
and technology ordering processes.
- Participate in local and regional IT projects, upgrades, and technology rollouts.
- Support compliance, audit, and regulatory requirements as required.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and support guides.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- 5+ years' experience in IT Helpdesk, Desktop Support, or End User Computing roles.
- Previous experience within:
- Banking
- Investment Banking
- Asset Management
- Capital Markets
- Financial Services environments
- Strong hands-on desktop support experience across Microsoft technologies.
- Experience supporting senior executives, VIP users, and business-critical stakeholders.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience using ServiceNow or similar ITSM platforms.
- Exposure to hardware asset management and lifecycle processes.
- Experience coordinating with external vendors and service providers.
- Ability to prioritise multiple support requests in a fast-paced environment.
