The Director, Governance Services, will provide strategic leadership and high-level executive advice to the Vice-Chancellor, Chancellor, Council and its Committees, supporting robust governance, compliance and decision-making across the University.

This pivotal role leads the Governance Services function, with responsibility for the frameworks, systems and processes that support Council and senior decision-making, institutional accountability and effective oversight. The Director also has responsibility for key governance functions, including the conduct of elections, privacy matters, the University’s regulatory instruments and policy suite, the delegations framework and legislative compliance.

Working collaboratively across Adelaide University, the Director will strengthen contemporary governance practice, build a high-performing team and deliver trusted,



responsive services that enable sound judgement, effective oversight and institutional integrity.

This senior role offers an outstanding opportunity for a credible and accomplished leader with extensive experience in leading governance services in a large, complex organisation, preferably within the higher education sector and/or other public sector contexts. Candidates will need to demonstrate a proven ability to manage governance frameworks, support executive and board-level decision making, and ensure compliance within a dynamic legislative and regulatory landscape.

An accomplished people leader, you will be confident building trusted relationships with senior executives, council members, as well as key external stakeholders, providing clear advice and support on sensitive and high-profile matters. Solid communication, judgement, and influencing skills will be essential, alongside the discretion, professionalism, and attention to detail needed to operate effectively at executive leadership level.
