Job responsibilities
Australian Energy & Storage Policy Research
- Monitor federal & state-level energy policies from DEECA, AEMO, AER, ARENA, CEFC; conduct in-depth analysis on storage incentive schemes, grid connection rules, VPP frameworks and carbon safeguard mechanisms.
- Compile professional policy research reports, assess policy impacts on battery storage project investment, tender strategy and revenue model to support executive & sales decision-making.
- Master differentiated storage regulations across VIC, NSW, QLD & WA, design region-specific business strategies for C&I; and large-scale battery projects.
Government Stakeholder Relations & Public Affairs
- Build and maintain senior networks across federal/state energy ministries, planning & environment departments, grid authorities and Clean Energy Council.
- Represent the company at policy hearings, industry summits and official consultations, enhance the brand influence of Chinese energy storage enterprises in Australia.
- Lead official inquiries & regulatory audits, prepare formal compliance statements and safeguard corporate regulatory reputation.
Storage Subsidy & Green Finance Application
- Full lifecycle management of ARENA grants, CEFC low-interest green loans, state tax rebates and renewable incentives for battery storage projects.
- Complete all subsidy application documents, official presentations, post-award compliance audits; establish long-term cooperation channels with ARENA and CEFC.
- Cooperate with local financial institutions to design green financing solutions for utility-scale energy storage assets.
Full-lifecycle Contract Compliance & Risk Control
- Conduct legal review on all storage-related contracts: EPC agreements, battery supply contracts, LTSA, grid connection documents and tender submissions, identify regulatory & commercial risks and provide revision recommendations.
- Build standardized contract checklists and energy storage compliance clause databases in line with Australian commercial law and industry practices.
- Profound knowledge of FIRB foreign investment review rules, cross-border capital compliance and offshore subsidiary legal risk mitigation.
Local Australian Subsidiary Compliance System Construction
- Oversee all compliance milestones for storage project development: environmental approvals, land permits, grid connection certification and operational safety licensing.
Commercial & Sales Cross-functional Support
- Partner with sales teams to win large C&I; and utility storage clients, provide qualified support on policy incentives, grid compliance and regulatory requirements for tender proposals.
- Host internal policy alignment workshops with technical and delivery teams to ensure all storage system designs comply with Australian local standards.
- Coordinate tender bidding, negotiation and contract signing together with legal and project teams.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree or above, major in Law, Public Administration, Energy Policy, Environmental Science, Energy Economics or Electrical Engineering; LLM major in Australian energy law is highly preferred.
2. Professional Certifications (priority): Australian AER energy compliance certificate, ARENA/CEFC subsidy application training, FIRB & offshore investment compliance certificate, commercial contract risk assessment certification.
3. Minimum 5 years full-time government affairs & policy compliance experience in Australia’s energy & battery storage industry. Proven track record in utility-scale BESS, commercial & industrial storage project government liaison.
4. Candidates with working background at AEMO, AER, state energy departments or as government policy advisors are prioritized.
