About the Role
We are seeking experienced, compassionate and reliable Disability Support Workers to provide ongoing support to a participant with a spinal cord injury in Thornlands.
This position would suit support workers who are confident providing complex personal care, can follow detailed care plans and understand the importance of building respectful and professional relationships.
Ongoing Shifts Available
We are currently recruiting for the following ongoing shifts:
- Tuesday and Thursday: 7:00 am–2:00 pm
- Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday: 6:00 pm–10:00 pm, followed by a non-active sleepover
The participant receives support seven days a week, so there may also be opportunities to pick up additional shifts.
Applicants do not need to be available for every listed shift; however, please clearly state your availability when applying.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing complex personal care
- Completing hoist transfers and manual-handling tasks safely
- Assisting with personal hygiene, dressing and grooming
- Providing pressure care in accordance with the participant’s care plan
- Supporting daily living activities
- Preparing meals and completing light domestic duties
- Monitoring and reporting changes in the participant’s wellbeing
- Completing accurate progress notes and documentation through ShiftCare
- Following established care plans, procedures and participant preferences
- Delivering respectful, consistent and person-centred support
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience supporting people with spinal cord injuries or complex care needs
- Demonstrated competency in hoist transfers and manual handling
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
- Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
- Valid Australian Driver Licence and access to a reliable vehicle
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Professional, reliable and respectful approach
- Ability to work independently and follow detailed care plans
