About the role

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Workers to join the Optimum Care Group team on a casual basis. Based in Hampton East, VIC 3188, this role is fundamental to our mission of providing high-quality support and care to individuals with disabilities. As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital part in enhancing the quality of life for our clients by providing personalised assistance, fostering independence, and promoting dignity and respect in all interactions.

Key responsibilities

- Provide direct personal care and support to clients with disabilities, assisting with daily living activities such as hygiene, dressing, grooming and meal preparation
- Support clients in accessing community services, attending appointments, and participating in social and recreational activities
- Assist clients in developing and maintaining life skills and independence in a safe and supportive environment
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client support provided, progress and any concerns or incidents
- Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and the broader support team to ensure coordinated and person-centred care
- Promote and uphold clients' rights, dignity, privacy and confidentiality at all times
- Respond sensitively to the emotional and psychological needs of clients, providing encouragement and emotional support
- Maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for clients
- Comply with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures, including disability support standards and safeguarding requirements
- Participate in training and professional development to enhance your knowledge and skills





What we're looking for

- A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities and a commitment to delivering person-centred care
- Previous experience working in disability support, aged care, community services or a related field
- A current and valid Working with Children Check (or equivalent relevant screening clearance) or willingness to obtain one
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds
- Physical capability to provide hands-on support and assist clients with mobility and personal care tasks
- Reliability, punctuality and flexibility to work on a casual basis as required
- Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to remain calm and composed in challenging situations
- A respectful approach to diversity, cultural sensitivity and an understanding of disability rights principles
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- A current first aid qualification is highly desirable
- A valid driver's licence is advantageous
