Job title: Dish Hand / Casual Waitstaff (Sunset Pier)

Hours: 3–5 days per week, shifts generally 9:00–15:00, some weekends required. Casual role with flexible scheduling.

Overview

Join the Sunset Pier team as a Dish Hand with waitressing and multitasking duties. This front‑and‑back‑of‑house role supports kitchen operations, maintains cleanliness and assists floor staff during service. Ideal for energetic, reliable people who enjoy a fast‑paced hospitality environment and occasional customer service.

Key duties

- Wash, sanitize and return dishes, glassware and utensils promptly.
- Operate dishwashing equipment and follow correct chemical/temperature procedures.
- Clear and buss tables; reset tableware and condiments for next service.
- Assist waitstaff with food runs, plating support and tray service as needed.
- Help with basic food prep (portioning, garnishes, plating) under chef direction.
- Maintain kitchen and dish area cleanliness (floors, benches, rubbish, grease traps).
- Sort and stack cleanware in correct storage locations.
- Monitor stock levels of disposables, cleaning chemicals and notify supervisor when low.
- Follow safe food handling, hygiene and PPE procedures.
- Assist with front‑of‑house tasks during quiet periods (greet customers, take simple orders, serve drinks) as rostered.




- Assist with weekend service peaks and special events when scheduled.

Skills & attributes:
- Previous hospitality or kitchen experience preferred but not essential — training provided.
- Valuable physical fitness; ability to stand long periods, lift up to 20 kg and work in a hot, wet environment.
- Fast, reliable, team player with good communication.
- Ability to multitask, prioritise under pressure and maintain attention to detail.
- Positive, friendly customer service attitude when assisting front of house.

Working conditions:
- Casual employment with hourly wage (award or above; negotiate on application).
- Split shift environment between kitchen and dining area.
- Fast‑paced, sometimes hot and noisy; strict hygiene and safety standards.
- Some weekend work required; roster provided in advance.
