Earth Moving Mechanic

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

- Be in possession of a Grade 12 certificate or N4 equivalent
- Have an applicable trade certificate as a Earth Moving / Diesel Mechanic
- Mine Health and Safety Act understanding
- 5 years + experience as a Earth Moving / Diesel Mechanic
- Working knowledge of all earthmoving machinery (mobile plant, loaders, dumpers, excavators, LDVs, mobile crushing and screening machines)
- Basic auto electrical knowledge
- Working knowledge of different applicable tools
- Computer literate – MS Office, ability to open job cards
- Ability to conduct planning is essential
- Basic welding – Advantageous
- Spray painting – Advantageous
- Supervisory skills (Team leader) – Advantageous

Duties And Responsibilities (not Limited To)

- The successful candidate will be appointed as a competent person in terms of Regulation 2.9.2 and 2.13.2, together with Section 7.4 of the Mine Health and Safety Act.
- Ensuring the secure installation,



operation, and maintenance of all plant equipment and machinery within designated area of responsibility
- Plan and perform first line maintenance task on all yellow fleet
- Perform first line of breakdown repairs on plant and equipment
- Assist with general duties assigned by Manager
- Develop, modify, construct, and install related equipment required for the safe operation of all engineering equipment
- Diagnosis, troubleshooting, fault finding and repair
- Ordering of spares
- Complete risk assessments
- Good experience in hydraulics
