Federal Government Department Seeking Personnel Security/Workforce Integrity Advisor

Hays is working with a vital Federal Government agency who contribute significantly to community to better the lives of thousands of Australians. Due to a focus on strengthening employment suitability, personnel security and workforce integrity settings, they are seeking an experienced EL1 Specialist Advisor to join their team to support the development and delivery of workforce integrity and personnel security initiatives.

Your New Role

This is a unique opportunity for professionals with experience in personnel security, suitability assessments, workforce integrity, vetting, governance, risk or protective security frameworks to contribute to a significant programme of work.

As the EL1 Specialist Advisor, you will lead the design, consultation and implementation of a contemporary employee suitability framework across the full employment lifecycle. You will provide expert advice on workforce suitability, risk-based controls, personnel security and integrity-related matters, supporting consistent and defensible decision-making across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the development and implementation of employee suitability frameworks across the employment life cycle
- Provide expert advice on workforce suitability, integrity risks and risk mitigation strategies
- Support pre-employment screening and suitability assessment activities
- Develop practical approaches to ongoing workforce suitability monitoring
- Partner with stakeholders across governance, risk, legal, fraud, audit and security functions
- Prepare high-quality briefs, recommendations and decision documentation for senior leaders
- Contribute to policy development,



governance activities and continuous improvement initiatives

About You To succeed, you will bring experience in personnel security, suitability assessment, workforce integrity or a related risk environment, with sound judgement and discretion in handling complex personal information.

- Experience across the personnel security lifecycle.
- Ability to apply PSPF requirements across recruitment, onboarding, monitoring and cessation.
- Strong background in vetting, suitability assessment or integrity-based roles.
- Experience developing or applying risk frameworks, criteria and assessment methods.
- Strong written analysis skills, including assessments, briefs and executive papers.
- Sound judgement balancing risk, fairness and operational needs.
- Ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Experience leading reform, governance or continuous improvement.
- Certificate IV in Government Security Personnel Vetting is highly regarded.
