About the role

We are seeking experienced Electricians and Leading Hand Electricians to join our growing team at Blackrock Electrical Contractors in Sydney. This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to work on diverse electrical projects whilst developing your career in a dynamic and supportive environment. As an Electrician or Leading Hand Electrician, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality electrical work, ensuring compliance with all relevant safety standards and regulations.

Leading Hand

Electricians will have additional responsibilities for supervising teams and managing project coordination on site.

Key responsibilities For the Electrician role:

- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, systems, and equipment in accordance with building codes and safety regulations
- Read and interpret electrical plans, blueprints, and technical drawings
- Test electrical systems and components to ensure proper functionality and safety
- Diagnose electrical faults and carry out repairs or replacements as required
- Comply with all health and safety requirements on site
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used





For the Leading Hand Electrician role (in addition to above):
- Supervise and coordinate work of junior electricians and apprentices on site
- Assign tasks and ensure work meets quality standards and deadlines
- Conduct tool box meetings and safety briefings
- Liaise with site managers, clients, and other trades
- Manage stock of electrical materials and equipment on site
- Report on project progress and raise any issues or delays

What we're looking for For the Electrician role:

- Current Electrician's Licence (or equivalent qualification recognised in NSW)
- Minimum of 2–5 years' experience in electrical installation, maintenance, or repair work
- Strong knowledge of electrical safety standards, Australian Standards (AS/NZS), and relevant regulations
- Proficiency in using electrical testing equipment and hand tools
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
- Willingness to work on varied projects and adapt to different work environments

For the Leading Hand Electrician role:
- All requirements listed above for the Electrician role
- Minimum of 3–10 years' experience as a qualified electrician
- Proven experience in a supervisory or leading hand capacity




- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of project management and site coordination
- First Aid certification and current White Card (or willingness to obtain)

Preferred experience:
- Experience with commercial or industrial electrical projects
- Familiarity with various electrical systems (switchboards, solar, fire safety systems)
- Additional qualifications or certifications in specialist areas
