Estimator – Commercial Plumbing

Are you an experienced Estimator looking to take the next step with a growing, respected name in commercial plumbing and civil construction? Cooke & Dowsett (CDPG) is growing our national Estimating team and we're looking for a detail-driven Estimator to join us at our Head Office in Keilor Park, with the opportunity to work on exciting projects across the country.

About the Role

As part of our Estimating team, you'll play a key role in winning profitable, well-priced work for CDPG. You'll prepare accurate cost estimates, run digital take-offs, analyse tender documentation and build strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, supporting our project teams from tender through to handover. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the detail of pricing and take-offs but also wants visibility across the full project lifecycle, from the first tender invitation through to project delivery and lessons learned.

What You'll Be Doing

- Reviewing tender invitations and assessing opportunities
- Conducting digital take-offs and quantity measurements from drawings, schedules and specifications
- Preparing complete estimates covering labour, materials, equipment and subcontractor costs
- Sourcing, validating and comparing supplier and subcontractor pricing
- Maintaining the tender register and following up on outcomes with builders
- Preparing budget documentation and handing over priced BOQs, fixture schedules and cost breakdowns to project teams on awarded work
- Supporting variation pricing, procurement, and project delivery reviews




- Tracking market pricing trends and keeping our rate libraries and catalogues current
- Contributing to continuous improvement in our estimating processes and tools

What We're Looking For

- Minimum 2+ years' estimating experience in commercial plumbing or construction
- Experience estimating medium to large commercial projects
- Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical, plumbing, civil and architectural drawings
- Confident working with digital take-off software and builder document platforms (e.g. Aconex, EstimateOne, BidContender)
- Competent with Bluebeam, Excel and on-screen take-off tools
- Solid commercial acumen and understanding of labour/material cost structures
- Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills
- A Plumbing Trade Qualification is highly regarded; a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or similar is desirable
- Familiarity with AS3500, the NCC and BCA requirements is a plus
