BPSM Architects is seeking an experienced Architectural Technician / Draftsperson to join our Hobart studio. This is an opportunity to take a key documentation and technical support role within a well-established Tasmanian practice working across health, community, education, commercial, residential and public-sector projects.
Based in Battery Point, BPSM is recognised for practical, context-responsive architecture, strong local knowledge, and a collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement, consultant coordination and project delivery. Our team works closely with clients, user groups, authorities and construction teams to deliver functional, sustainable and well-resolved design outcomes.
About the role
As an Architectural Technician / Draftsperson, you will support the preparation, coordination and delivery of high-quality architectural documentation across all project stages. Working closely with directors, architects, project teams and consultants, you will assist with drawings, detailing, schedules, consultant coordination, documentation control and technical problem-solving from design development through to construction documentation and project delivery.
Key responsibilities
Prepare and update architectural drawings, documentation packages, details, schedules and presentation material.
Assist with design, tender and construction documentation under the direction of project architects and directors.
Coordinate architectural documentation with structural, services, access, fire, health planning and other specialist consultant information.
Develop accurate technical details and documentation that respond to NCC, Australian Standards and project-specific requirements.
Support drawing issue processes, revisions, document control and quality checking.
Assist project teams during tender and construction phases,
including responses to queries, site-related documentation and defects support.
Maintain clear communication with internal teams and contribute to practical, well-resolved documentation outcomes.
About you
Experience in architectural drafting, documentation or technical support, ideally within a practice environment.
A relevant qualification in building design, architectural technology, drafting, architecture or a related field.
Strong Revit skills, with AutoCAD or comparable architectural documentation software experience also valued.
Positive technical drafting, detailing, coordination and documentation skills.
Working knowledge of the NCC, Australian Standards, planning requirements and building approval pathways.
Ability to interpret consultant information, resolve documentation issues and work accurately to project deadlines.
Clear written, verbal and visual communication skills, with a collaborative approach to working with architects, consultants and internal teams.
A practical, detail-focused and solutions-oriented approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
