About the Role
We are currently seeking passionate Female Disability Support Workers to join our team in Springfield Lakes, QLD. This role involves supporting individuals living independently within Supported Independent Living (SIL) accommodation.
As a Disability Support Worker, you will assist clients to develop and maintain essential life skills, including:
- Personal care
- Medication support
- Meal preparation
- Domestic assistance
- Community participation
- Social support
- Relationship building
- Independent living skills
About You To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:
- A genuine passion for supporting people with disability through a person-centred approach
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills
- Previous experience supporting people with disability (highly desirable)
Essential Experience
You must have experience supporting individuals who present with:
- Absconding behaviours
- Threatening or intimidating behaviours
- Non-compliant behaviours (e.g. resisting support)
- Self-harm behaviours
- Suicidal ideation
- Verbal aggression
Essential Diagnostic Experience
You must have experience supporting individuals with one or more of the following diagnoses:
- Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Intellectual Disability
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
- Depression
Requirements To apply for this role, you must hold (or be willing to obtain) the following:
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working With Children Check (Blue Card)
- Current National Police Check (issued within the last 6 months)
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Valid Australian Driver’s Licence
- Reliable vehicle with current registration and comprehensive insurance
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability/Aged Care) or another relevant qualification
Key Skills and Responsibilities
- Personal Care & Medication Support: Assist with personal care and support medication adherence.
- Meal Preparation & Monitoring: Prepare meals and monitor nutrition and wellbeing.
- Compassionate Support: Build trusting relationships and provide respectful, patient-centred care.
- Independence & Engagement: Encourage autonomy, participation, and meaningful activities.
- Health Monitoring & Documentation: Observe, document, and report changes in clients’ physical or emotional wellbeing.
