We are seeking motivated and reliable Field Officers to support South Australia's Avian Influenza (Bird Flu) surveillance and response program.
Working as part of an emergency biosecurity response team, you will play a vital role in protecting Australia's poultry industry and wildlife by conducting field surveillance activities across Robe and surrounding regional areas. This hands-on role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, can work independently, and are committed to following strict safety and biosecurity procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveillance activities across designated regional locations.
- Locate, safely collect, and transport deceased wild bird specimens for disease monitoring and laboratory testing.
- Follow all biosecurity, PPE, hygiene, and decontamination procedures to minimise disease transmission risks.
- Complete accurate records, reports, and data collection in accordance with operational requirements.
- Operate government vehicles safely while travelling throughout regional South Australia.
- Work independently to manage daily schedules, travel routes, and field priorities.
- Maintain a high standard of workplace health and safety while working in remote and outdoor environments.
About You
You are a dependable and safety-focused individual who enjoys working outdoors and can remain calm and professional in an emergency response environment. You are comfortable working independently, following detailed procedures, and adapting to changing operational requirements.
Essential Requirements
- Current Australian C-Class (Full) Driver's Licence.
- National Police Check issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to obtain one.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and across regional locations.
- Strong commitment to workplace health, safety, and biosecurity compliance.
- Excellent attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
