A leading industrial distribution and services business is looking for a Finance Business Partner to embed directly within a divisional leadership team in Newcastle.
This isn't a back-office FP&A; role. You'll be on the ground, you'll be working alongside the General Manager on pricing, margin and cost recovery, building the metrics and dashboards that drive real operational decisions, and acting as the trusted finance voice in the room.
About the Role
Reporting into the Senior Finance Commercial Manager, the key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the primary finance contact for the division, sitting inside the leadership team rather than reporting in from a distance
- Participating in divisional leadership meetings and bringing financial insight directly into operational decisions
- Building genuine relationships with non-finance leaders and helping them understand what's really driving performance
- Digging into where margin is being won or lost — whether it's rework, mispricing, or inefficiency
- Building and refining pricing models, including labour cost recovery and machinery/overhead recovery
- Supporting the sales team with pricing decisions in real time, not after the fact
- Designing the metrics and lead indicators that tell the business where it's tracking mid-month, not just at month-end
- Briefing the data/BI team on dashboard requirements (you won't need to build them yourself — just know what "good" looks like)
- Turning reporting into something leadership actually uses to make calls, not just a pack that gets filed
- Supporting the annual budget and rolling forecast process at a divisional level
- Analysing variances between forecast and actual, and explaining the "why" behind the numbers
- Making sure divisional plans reflect what's actually happening on the ground, not just top-down assumptions
- Financial modelling and business case support for capital investments and operational initiatives
- Identifying margin improvement and cost efficiency opportunities across the division
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:
- CA / CPA qualified preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills: confident engaging non-finance stakeholders
- Operational/commercial finance background (site-based, not purely corporate)
- Mining, industrials or manufacturing exposure highly regarded, not essential
- Comfortable being embedded on-site 4 days a week
Why Apply
- P/E backed business with a great brand nationally
- Solid development plans
- Flexible working arrangements
- Supportive, high-performing finance team
- Career progression and development opportunities
- Competitive salary and bonus structure
