Read this first: you must have genuine hands-on BAS involvement and reconciliation experience - real accounting foundations, not adjacent ones. Without them, please don't apply.
You're a data and automation person who also knows their way around a ledger, and you're tired of roles that only want one half of you.
We are an established Australian luxury house, vertically integrated through sourcing raw materials, manufacturing and retailing. Multi-org Xero, a POS system with an API waiting to be used, payment platforms, inventory etc.. Our transition from traditional business model to data driven one is underway. CRM, sales training and workforce systems have been built in-house are live today. The finance function is next, and this role is who does it.
HOW IT WORKS
First, you run the engine, genuinely. Daily bank reconciliation across every entity, takings reconciled across systems and sites, payables to a hard weekly cut-off, BAS preparation on a staged pathway under the Head of Finance. Everything you learn about where it wastes time and hides errors becomes your build list.
Then you build it down: matching that runs itself, exception based review, data flows between systems replacing re-entry, n8n, Python, Power Query, APIs, whatever the problem deserves. Every hour you automate out of the manual work is formally reallocated to your build roadmap - documented rule, and the engine of the role.
Your success metric is unusual: engineer the routine work down until the seat you occupied can be occupied by someone to run it more easily - then you've graduated to the next system. Inventory intelligence. Cost modelling for a hand made product range. Commodity tracking feeding pricing. Director dashboards. The title grows with the build, Business Systems Analyst is the documented path.
WHAT YOU NEED
- Genuine hands-on BAS involvement - you have owned the reconciliation and GST layer that feeds BAS preparation, and you are ready to progress to preparing it fully yourself under review
- Reconciliation at volume, and solid Xero - (multi-entity, retail, inventory management preferred )
- Real evidence of building: something you have automated in a finance context, however small, that you can walk us through - your hands on it, not your team's
- Australian GST knowledge, solid and current
- 3+ years hands-on finance experience - accountant, senior bookkeeper, or registered BAS agent backgrounds all welcome; capability matters
HOW TO APPLY Apply with your resume, and answer one question in your application: tell us about one thing you have automated or built, however small, and what your hands actually did.
We review as applications arrive and may only respond to candidates who progress.
