Indigo Junction provides a range of specialist support services for people experiencing homelessness, housing crisis or other hardship in Midland and the broader Northeast metropolitan.

We support vulnerable community members by providing crisis and transitional housing, specialist support and outreach services – while building skills, capacity and independence. We also run a range of programs that focus on growing the strength and connection of our local community.

Key Objectives:

- Provide sound financial leadership and strategic advice.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Maintain solid financial controls and governance.
- Ensure compliance with all legislative, contractual and funding requirements.
- Support organisational sustainability through effective budgeting and financial planning.
- Lead continuous improvement of finance systems and processes.

Responsibilities:

- Governance & Compliance
· Assisting in prepare monthly Finance Reports for the Finance Committee

· Maintain adequate insurance coverage

· Maintain financial policies and procedures

- Financial Reporting
· Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes

· Cashflow management and forecasting

· Oversee payroll process and answer payroll queries

· Prepare month end reconciliations and journals

· Maintain the fixed asset register

· Prepare monthly financial reporting and budget variance analysis for Management and the Board





· Prepare and lodge monthly Business Activity Statements

· Ensure best practice financial report in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and other legislative requirements

· Assist in prepare annual budget and half-year reforecast

· Prepare year-end financial statements and coordinate and work with external auditors on annual audit

· Prepare year-end grant acquittals

· Prepare annual financial report for the Housing Authority

· Prepare financials for funding submissions

· Prepare financial analysis and due diligence reviews as required

· Maintain effective financial reporting systems

· Liaise with external stakeholders including, banks, funding bodies, auditors, housing authority, IT providers and other consultants

· Adhoc financial projects

- Operational
· Support and contribute towards a positive work culture

· Operate in accordance with the Indigo Junction Policies and Procedures Manual.

· Operate within the Indigo Junction Staff Code of Conduct

· Contribute to the development of Indigo Junction strategic planning and future directions

· Support the development and maintenance of Indigo Junction policies and procedures and other key documentation

Selection Criteria

Essential:

Qualifications and/or training and/or licences:




- A tertiary qualification in accounting
- Relevant professional memberships, CPA or CA

Experience and knowledge:

- Experience in the not-for-profit, community services or government-funded sector preferred
- Strong knowledge of Accounting Standards, GST, BAS, Payroll, Fringe Benefits Tax, Superannuation, Financial reporting

- Experience preparing budgets and forecasts.
- Experience preparing Board reports.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated leadership capability.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with accounting software (preferably Xero).
