Primary objective The Financial Analyst is responsible for providing professional, contemporary, financial services and advice including management, administration and reporting, corporate services support, as well as analysis and policy direction to enhance financial compliance and capability in the agency.

Context statement The Financial Accounting and Control Unit is responsible for the agency’s accounting, and external reporting frameworks and processes to facilitate the effective financial management of the agency. It has a role in the corporate governance activities of the agency and is the primary source of financial reporting policy and advice within the agency. The work unit administers accounting policy and compliance frameworks and related system requirements for the agency, including taxation, procurement and payment of grants.

The Financial





Analyst would have the ability to work across all functional areas of Financial Services.

Key duties and responsibilities

- Provide support to the agency with the preparation and payment of grants to government and non-government schools.
- Manage a broad range of procurement activities, including purchase orders and corporate credit card transactions,

ensuring adherence to procurement frameworks.

- Conduct thorough research and analysis to identify issues, develop practical solutions and provide explicit, well-reasoned advice.
- Oversee end-to-end grant payment processes and provide on-the-job training to agency staff, present at agency forms

(online and in-person).

- Provide advice and ensure financial transactions comply with legislation, agency policies and procedures.
- Prepare clear standard operating procedures, guidance materials and fact sheets for publication.

Selection criteria

Essential

- Demonstrated ability and knowledge of contemporary financial principles and practices, and collation and interpretation of data.
- Proven ability to manage priorities and deliver quality outcomes in a changing environment with tight deadlines.
- High level of interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to respond constructively and sensitively, with an ability to negotiate and resolve conflict.
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective on-the-job training and present at forums both online and in-person.
- High skill levels using a range of software applications, especially spreadsheets and database management.

Desirable

- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as accounting, finance, or business.
