As the business continues its global expansion and strengthens its finance function, we are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to play a key role in delivering high-quality financial reporting, robust financial controls and regulatory compliance across the Group.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Financial Controller or Senior Financial Accountant looking to take the next step in their career within a growing international financial services group.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality financial reporting, maintaining robust financial controls and supporting regulatory compliance across the Group. You will help ensure the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of financial information while contributing to the continued development of the Group's finance function.
This role offers excellent exposure to a dynamic, fast-growing international financial services business and provides the chance to make a meaningful contribution to the continued development of the Group's finance function. Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Financial Control & Governance
Maintain and continually improve internal financial controls, accounting policies and finance processes.
Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, AFSL obligations and other applicable regulatory reporting requirements.
Support the ongoing development of the Group's financial governance framework and finance function.
Support the implementation of finance systems, process improvements and automation initiatives.
Financial Reporting & Financial Close
Prepare accurate,
complete and timely financial information and management reports across the Group.
Manage month-end close processes, ensuring the completeness and accuracy of trial balances, revenue recognition, operating expenses and intercompany reconciliations.
Prepare monthly Group consolidated management accounts.
Prepare monthly financial reporting packs, including variance analysis and management commentary.
Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.
Prepare accurate and timely cash flow reporting and analysis.
Assist in the preparation of statutory financial statements.
Draft technical accounting papers and accounting position documentation where required.
Regulatory Reporting & Audit
Prepare AFSL-related financial reporting, financial forecasts and regulatory submissions.
Coordinate and manage external audits, including Group audits, statutory audits and AFSL audits.
Assist with taxation matters, including BAS, FBT and corporate income tax obligations.
Finance Operations
Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and Chart of Accounts across multiple entities using Xero.
Oversee and complete high-volume bank reconciliations in collaboration with the Treasury team.
Support the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting activities.
Business Partnering & Commercial Support
Support the Finance Manager with financial reporting, analysis and business improvement initiatives.
Partner with business leaders to provide financial insights that support commercial decision-making.
Perform ad hoc financial analysis, reporting and finance projects as required.
About
You To be successful in this role, you will bring:
CA or CPA qualification.
Demonstrated experience as a Financial Controller, Senior Financial Accountant, Group Accountant or in a similar role.
Demonstrated experience managing the full financial close process within a complex multi-entity environment.
Experience managing relationships with external auditors and tax advisers.
Strong technical accounting knowledge, including Australian Accounting Standards.
Strong understanding of internal controls, financial governance and accounting best practices.
Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
A proactive approach with a continuous improvement mindset.
High level of integrity with the ability to exercise sound professional judgement.
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Desirable
Experience
While not essential, the following will be highly regarded:
Previous experience within Financial Services, FinTech, Trading, Payments or other regulated industries.
Exposure to AFSL reporting requirements.
Experience with Group consolidations and multi-currency environments.
Experience within an ASX-listed organisation or other highly regulated environments will be highly regarded.
Exposure to finance transformation, external due diligence or capital markets reporting.
