Fleet Manager – Heavy Vehicle Transport

Viti Freight Line is seeking an experienced, organised, and motivated Fleet Manager to oversee our truck and trailer fleet and lead our team of professional drivers. This is a key management role responsible for ensuring our fleet is maintained to the highest standards, remains fully compliant, and operates safely and efficiently while supporting our drivers to achieve operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the day-to-day operations of the company's truck and trailer fleet.
- Oversee the maintenance, servicing, and repairs of all vehicles to minimise downtime.
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules.
- Ensure all trucks and trailers remain roadworthy and compliant with NHVR regulations, registration requirements, inspections, and company maintenance standards.
- Lead, supervise, and support company drivers, ensuring they comply with company policies, safety procedures, and legislative requirements.
- Manage driver performance, attendance, vehicle care, and daily operational requirements.
- Ensure drivers complete daily pre-start inspections, defect reports, logbooks, and all required compliance documentation.
- Coordinate driver schedules in consultation with operations to maximise fleet utilisation.
- Provide coaching and guidance to drivers on safe driving practices, vehicle care, and compliance obligations.
- Investigate and report vehicle defects, incidents, and driver-related issues to senior management, recommending appropriate corrective actions.
- Liaise with mechanics, workshops, suppliers, and external service providers to coordinate vehicle servicing and repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs,



registrations, inspections, and compliance documentation.
- Monitor fleet performance, maintenance costs, and vehicle availability while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
- Foster a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with Chain of Responsibility (CoR), NHVR requirements, and company policies.

About You The successful applicant will have:

- Previous experience in fleet management or transport operations.
- Demonstrated experience managing and leading heavy vehicle drivers.
- Strong knowledge of truck and trailer maintenance.
- Sound understanding of NHVR regulations, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), and heavy vehicle compliance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with fleet management systems and Microsoft Office.
- A current driver's licence (HR/HC/MC licence will be highly regarded).
