Are you a motivated and reliable individual looking to kick-start your career in the electrical industry? MEGT has a fantastic opportunity with one of our valued clients for an Electrical Apprentice based across Melbourne, with an exciting long-term project commencing in the Docklands.
About the role
This apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to develop practical skills while working alongside an experienced team specialising in Building Management Systems (BMS), mechanical electrical, and building automation. You'll gain hands-on experience in a niche area of the electrical industry that goes beyond traditional electrical work.
Duties include
- Assisting with the construction and wiring of mechanical control switchboards.
- Installing catenary wire and roughing in electrical and control cabling.
- Running power and control cables to mechanical plant and air conditioning equipment.
- Installing temperature sensors, valves and automation devices.
- Assisting with commissioning, testing and fault finding of building automation systems.
- Learning to work with HVAC control systems and modern building technologies.
- Following safe work practices while working alongside experienced tradespeople.
What we're looking for - Skills & Experience
- A genuine passion for becoming an electrician.
- Ideally a 1st or 2nd Year Electrical Apprentice (applicants with some industry experience are encouraged to apply).
- Certificate II in Electrotechnology (highly regarded but not essential).
- Current White Card.
- Driver's licence and reliable transport to travel to meeting points and various job sites.
- Robust problem-solving skills with an eagerness to learn technical concepts.
- Positive attitude, reliability and willingness to be part of a close-knit team.
- Ability to work safely in a physically demanding environment and occasionally work at heights.

Our client is a well-established Victorian-based commercial electrical contractor specialising in building automation, mechanical electrical services, and commercial technology maintenance across Melbourne and regional Victoria. Working on a diverse range of commercial projects, you'll gain exposure to control system integration, electrical infrastructure for HVAC and mechanical plant equipment, as well as maintenance, fault finding, and commissioning of advanced building automation systems.
