The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the continuous improvement of spatial capability across the NSW EPA, shaping how geospatial data, analytics and insights are embedded into the way the organisation works to protect the environment and support better regulatory outcomes. The role will lead a specialist team to uplift enterprise-wide spatial services, embed contemporary geospatial practices, and drive real organisational change by making location intelligence more accessible, trusted and valuable for teams across the EPA.

Working in partnership with the broader agency, data teams and open data functions, the role will help connect spatial information with enterprise data assets to unlock stronger insights,



improve transparency and support evidence-based decision-making. It is a unique opportunity to influence priority projects and programs, strengthen decision-making, and build a customer-focused culture of continuous improvement.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have skills/experience in:

- Integrating large, complex, and disparate geospatial datasets from multiple sources while ensuring data integrity and usability.
- Balancing the delivery of operational mapping and supports the strategic development of advanced geospatial analytics and predictive tools.
- Maintaining currency with rapidly evolving geospatial technologies, data standards, and whole-of-government digital strategies.
- Representing the EPA internally and externally with highly skilled technical expertise, providing trusted advice and building strong relationships across government and spatial communities.

Please note that it is an essential requirement of this role for the successful candidate to have tertiary qualifications in related field or equivalent experience.

About the team

The Information & Digital team works across the EPA to modernise and operate our digital systems, data platform and spatial systems, enabling efficient regulatory technology, field operations and better services for the organisation and community.

- Deliver high-quality data, spatial analytics and intelligence to support evidence-based, data-driven and risk-based regulatory decision-making.
- Generate timely, accurate and outcomes-focused intelligence to identify risks, inform action and help disrupt environmental crime and non-compliance.
- Establish strong data governance, standards, partnerships and data-sharing practices to ensure trusted, secure and accessible information across the organisation,



government and open data channels.
