About the role

Ready to take your geology or earth sciences degree beyond the classroom?

Douglas Partners is looking for Geology & Earth Sciences Graduates to join our national 2027 Graduate Program, commencing January 2027.

This role is ideal if you’re interested in applying your geological knowledge to real civil infrastructure, land development, ground investigation and construction projects. Graduate opportunities are available across our offices around Australia, and you’ll be able to indicate your preferred office location/s when applying.

You’ll be supported by local technical specialists while building practical experience across both field and office‑based project environments.

What you’ll do day to day

As part of the graduate program, you’ll gain hands‑on experience working on real geotechnical projects, including:

- Getting out on site and participating in geotechnical investigations and fieldwork;
- Logging soil, rock and groundwater conditions and recording clear, accurate field observations;




- Collecting samples and coordinating testing with laboratories, drillers and subcontractors;
- Turning field and laboratory data into practical insights about subsurface conditions;
- Assisting with reports and technical documentation that guide real project decisions; and
- Solving geological and geotechnical challenges using industry software and analytical tools, contributing to projects involving landslides, hazard and risk assessment, foundations, and rock and anchor design.

What we’re looking for

You don’t need to know everything on day one. We’re looking for graduates who are curious, practical and keen to learn. You may be a strong fit if you have:

- A degree in geology, earth sciences, engineering geology, geoscience or a related discipline;
- A willingness to work outdoors on project sites as well as in the office;
- Strong observation, communication and organisational skills, with a practical approach to problem‑solving;
- A current Australian Driver Licence; and
- A Construction White Card (or willingness to obtain one prior to commencement).
