The role

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Guide Dog Mobility Specialist to join our Impact team, based at our stunning green campus in Bald Hills. As a Guide Dog Mobility Specialist, you will play a vital role in empowering clients to achieve greater independence - building confidence, developing mobility skills and creating life-changing partnerships between people living with blindness or low vision and their Guide Dogs.

Working across residential and community settings throughout Queensland, you will support clients through their Guide Dog journey while also contributing to the development, training and wellbeing of our incredible dogs.

Your responsibilities include

- Deliver personalised Guide Dog mobility and Orientation & Mobility instruction to clients.
- Assess client needs and recommend suitable Guide Dog matches that consider individual goals, lifestyle and mobility requirements.
- Assessing, training, and developing Guide Dogs.
- Supporting client outcomes through ongoing training and follow-up services.
- Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.




- Contributing to the ongoing development and growth of Guide Dog and Assistance Dog programs.
- Participate in community engagement, fundraising and public awareness activities.

About You

- Hold a recognised IGDF qualification as a Guide Dog Mobility Instructor (or equivalent recognised by Guide Dogs Queensland).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships.
- Strong active listening, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organisational skills, initiative and ability to work autonomously.
- Highly effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and learning.
- Be outcome focused and flexible.
- Current Open Driver’s License.
- Current First Aid qualification.
- Hepatitis B, Tetanus and current flu vaccination.
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance and Blue Card required before starting.
- Competency in Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to undertake regular travel across Queensland.
