Level Up Collective are proud to be partnering with Melbourne Park to find a Head of Australian Open to lead Melbourne Park’s operational planning and delivery for the Australian Open, ensuring the successful integration of services with Tennis Australia’s event operations.

About the Role The Head of Australian Open is the primary day-to-day operational liaison between Melbourne Park and Tennis Australia, coordinating planning across multiple operational workstreams and ensuring Melbourne Park consistently delivers its obligations under the Operational Agreements.

Areas

Client & Operational Partnership

Lead operational engagement with Tennis Australia throughout the Australian Open planning cycle.

Build trusted working relationships across Melbourne Park, Tennis Australia, government agencies and key delivery partners to enable integrated event delivery.

Leadership

Lead, develop and inspire the Australian Open team, fostering a high-performing, collaborative and accountable culture that delivers exceptional operational outcomes.

Strategic

Planning

Translate strategic priorities into integrated operational plans, ensuring Melbourne Park is well positioned to deliver a safe, seamless and world class Australian Open.

Financial Management

Lead the development and management of the Australian Open operational budget, ensuring expenditure is effectively planned, monitored and managed throughout the event lifecycle. Risk Security & Safety Management

Lead Melbourne Park's integrated approach to risk, security and safety planning for the Australian Open, ensuring risks are identified, assessed and effectively managed throughout the event lifecycle.

Operational

Delivery & Readiness





Lead Melbourne Park's operational readiness for the Australian Open, ensuring all services, people, systems and infrastructure are prepared for successful event delivery.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

Lead the continual improvement of Melbourne Park's Australian Open operational planning, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, effectiveness and service delivery.

About

You

You are an experienced leader, managing high performing operational teams within a major venue, sport, entertainment or events environment. Your exceptional leadership skills, ability to motivate and inspire individuals and teams, ability to coach, develop and nurture talent with a team sets you apart. You’ll bring:

Robust operational planning capability, with the ability to translate strategic priorities into integrated operational delivery plans. Highly developed stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills, with experience building productive relationships across multiple organisations and agencies. Familiarity with large and complex event productions and/or high-profile sporting events and deep specific knowledge of event management principles

Experience with risk management, and safety operations.

Strong attention to detail with exceptional planning and organisational skills and a calm and pragmatic approach.

Proven ability to manage competing priorities, solve complex operational problems and make sound decisions in high-pressure environments. Demonstrated financial management capability, including budget development, forecasting and achieving value for money. Ability to create a great service environment, with a strong customer and quality service focus that delivers an outstanding guest experience.

Significant regulatory and legal compliance knowledge and understanding of implications to the business.

Venue & Events planning and delivery experience within an arena, major stadium,



mixed entertainment environment or similar environment. (managing environment with large crowd capacities & multiple offerings) The ability to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of venue management including crowd management and security, event operations, catering and related service environments.
